In 2006, after only five strongman competitions, Rob was able to achieve his goal of becoming a professional in strongman by being the top amateur at the Northeast Wisconsin Strongman Challenge. During this time, Rob began to compete in the local Highland games circuit due to his strong interest in Celtic culture.
In 2007, Rob achieved IPF Elite status in powerlifting with a total of 2022 pounds (815 squat, 473 bench press, 733 deadlift) in the 125 kg class setting records in both the squat and deadlift. Rob also competed in his first professional strongman contest and deadlifted 800 pounds at the ASC St. Patrick’s Day Qualifier in March 2007. He qualified for ASC Pro Nationals at the Golden State Strongman Challenge but was unable to attend due to the birth of his first child.
Rob continues to try to improve constantly at the sports of strongman, powerlifting, and Highland games. He hopes to qualify for the IFSA World Strongman Championships in 2008. In addition, Rob hopes to continue to learn the nuances of throwing so he can turn professional in Highland Games. His eventual goal is to be professional in all three sports that he competes in.
