Rob Meulenberg was born in Abington, PA, and raised in nearby Hatboro, PA (both suburbs of Philadelphia). He grew up playing a wide variety of athletics, including baseball, football, soccer, and basketball.
While attending college, his love for the weight room would develop. He enrolled at the Florida State University (FSU) in 1994 weighing 180 pounds and never having weight trained in his life. Rob quickly befriended some amateur bodybuilders who taught him what was needed to get big and strong. Many hours in the gym and, more importantly, many hours in the cafeteria were employed to get Rob up to a solid 240 pounds upon graduation.
It was at FSU where Rob learned the delicate balances between training and “normal” life, as he had to balance his training, schoolwork, and labwork equally. It was through hardwork and dedication Rob was able keep his training extremely intense while graduating with a degree in Chemistry in 1998. After obtaining his degree, he packed up and moved out west to further his education and pursued a graduate degree in the same field.
